Welcome!

On behalf of the Public Art Board of the City of Asheville, I welcome you to attend the 2010 Public Arts 360 Conference. This exciting event will not only serve as a celebration of public art, but as a comprehensive convention of both experienced and emerging artists, as well as senior and rising administrators. The collaboration of interests will benefit attendees by garnering insight to all experiences in the realm of public art.

Hosted at the lovely Crest Center near the heart of West Asheville, the weekend will highlight the occasion in downtown at the Asheville Arts Museum and Pack Place Education, Arts & Science Center of key-note speaker former Chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts, Bill Ivey (1998-2001), with a signing soirée of his book Arts, Inc. : How Greed and Neglect Have Destroyed Our Cultural Rights following the presentation.

Asheville has a distinct reputation as one of the best small cities in America with numerous accolades and notable attractions, as well as nationally considered one of the top arts communities and destinations to experience.
Sitting in a valley between the Appalachian Mountains and the Great Smokey Mountains, Asheville is surrounded by natural wholesome beauty. September should prove to be a delightful month to visit the area and attend such a conference as PA360. We invite you to stay and enjoy what the region has to offer after the conference concludes at noon on Saturday.

The City of Asheville is excited to host such an event as PA360 and we look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues to the conversation and experience of public art.

Sincerely,
Julie Calhoun-Roepnack
Chair of the Public Art Board
